Occupation Description

Materials engineers investigate materials and plan machinery and processes to manufacture materials for use in products that must meet specialized design and performance requirements. They also plan new uses for known materials. This title also includes engineers working with composite materials or specializing in one type of material which could include metal, metal alloys, glass, ceramics, plastics, polymers or naturally occurring materials such as metallurgists and metallurgical engineers, welding engineers and ceramic engineers.
